Bedford Foursquare Church History

The International Church of the Foursquare Gospel was founded in Los Angeles, California by Aimee Semple McPherson in 1923. Amidst the revival days of the early 1900's, this fellowship of believers was born determined to proclaim the solid scriptural core of Pentecostal renewal. The term "foursquare" stands for the four-fold ministry of Jesus Christ as Savior, Baptizer with the Holy Spirit, Healer and coming King.
Bedford Foursquare Church is a restart of what was once called Faith Christian Center. We became a chartered church with Foursquare in July 2006. Pastor Bill and Daisy Donahue became our pastors in August of 2007.

What We Believe

We Believe in the Holy Scriptures

We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God. (2 Tim. 3:16,17)

We Believe in the Plan of Salvation

We believe that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us, signing the pardon of all who believe in Him. (John 3:16, Rom 5:8)

We Believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit

We believe that the baptism of the Holy Spirit empowers the believer, and that His incoming is after the same manner as in Bible days (Acts 2:4)

We Believe in Heaven

We believe that heaven is the glorious eternal home of born-again believers (John 14:1-3, Rev. 7:15-17)

The Pastor

The Senior Pastor of the church function as spiritual leadership, teaching and taking care of the flock. They are overseers of the eldership, church council, and the church's vision and plans.

Assistant Pastors

Assistant Pastors serve in support roles to the Senior Pastor. They have been given specific functional responsibilities.

Elders

The primary function of an elder is to assist the pastor in the oversight of the church, in teaching the world and seeking the leading of the spirit to fulfill the vision of the church. Elders are appointed by the pastor, with the consultation of other elders, and released to minister under the pastor's authority.

Church Council

In a Foursquare Church, the church council is composed of at least five, but not more than nine people, nominated by the church council, and affirmed by the church to support the leadership in managing the financial affairs and general operation of the fellowship.

Home Group Leaders

Home Group Leaders are individuals or couples called by God and appointed by home group director's, pastor and elders to facilitate, encourage, train, and relate to a small group of people in the home setting.
